Dentsply Sirona has announced plans to retire its Connect Case Center (CCC) platform in most countries by November 15, 2025. The company is encouraging users to transition to its cloud-based platform, DS Core, which offers a broader range of features designed to support digital workflows in dental practices and laboratories.
Originally launched in 2010, the CCC platform facilitated intraoral scan transfers and lab orders. As digital dental workflows have evolved, Dentsply Sirona stated the need for more advanced tools led to the development and implementation of DS Core.
"Transferring from CCC to DS Core is the next logical step as we embrace the new era of Connected Dentistry," stated Max Milz, Group Vice President, Connected Technology Solutions, Dentsply Sirona. “DS Core gives clinicians with access to all key workflows—restorative, aligners, implantology—from one centralized cloud-based platform, simplifying their lives and enabling better patient care, practice growth, and operational efficiency."
According to the company, DS Core integrates with existing equipment such as CEREC and Connect Software and allows users to add x-rays and other files to submissions. Orders can be accessed and tracked from any device. Dentsply Sirona also notes that DS Core removes the need for licenses through tiered access levels, including a free account option for data transfers to labs.
The platform also introduces features that aim to increase flexibility and delegation. Practices can complete order data entry through a web browser, freeing up the scanner for other tasks. Staff members can be assigned parts of the workflow before cases are finalized and submitted by clinicians.
Real-time communication tools are embedded into DS Core, allowing practices and labs to exchange messages and design files. Patient media can be stored and viewed from one location, and treatment workflows—including CEREC restorations, aligner cases, and referrals—can be initiated directly within the system.
Switching to DS Core involves setting up an account and linking compatible equipment. The company notes that once a lab account is created, data transfer to the new system is possible without the need for additional licensing, which had been required under CCC.
“Since switching to DS Core, our collaboration with the lab has improved,” Dee Dee Meevasin, DMD, a dentist based in Las Vegas, Nevada, stated. “We've gained more workflow flexibility, and it frees up the scanner, allowing us to scan more patients. With DS Core, our lab cases run smoothly from scanning to collaboration. It's all in one place and allows me to focus on what matters most, my patients.”
