Align Technology has announced a series of product innovations for its iTero Digital Solutions ecosystem, which includes intraoral scanners and integrated software tools. According to the company, the updates are designed to enhance patient communication, streamline workflows, and support case acceptance during chairside consultations.
Sree Kolli, executive vice president, chief product and digital officer at Align Technology, said, “We’re excited to introduce the next wave of innovations for iTero Digital Solutions that uplift the entire in-office consultation experience for doctors and their patients. Our new chairside visualization solutions for iTero Digital Solutions supports oral health diagnostics, increases patient engagement, and drives treatment acceptance, collectively helping to accelerate practice growth.”
According to the company, the new features span key practice workflows — diagnose, plan, treat, and monitor — and include updates across the Align Oral Health Suite, Invisalign Outcome Simulator Pro, and iTero Design Suite powered by exocad. The Align Oral Health Suite includes a new patient gallery for supplemental record-keeping, simplified oral health reports with annotation tools, and QR code sharing for easier patient communication. Invisalign Outcome Simulator Pro with Smile Video provides dynamic, in-face visualizations with natural mouth movements, offers personalization across Invisalign product options, and can be used for orthodontic and ortho-restorative treatments. The iTero Design Suite is now compatible with a broader range of 3D printers and milling systems; it supports the design and production of models, bite splints, mock-ups, and restorations for single-visit dentistry, and integrates near-infrared imaging and high-definition intraoral images for detailed restoration design.
Customer experiences with the new features have focused on their ability to improve communication and treatment discussions. “I finally have a way to show patients what I was seeing from the first consultation. The intraoral scanner moved from being a ‘nice gadget’ to being non negotiable for early patient engagement,” said Dr. Giuseppe Marano of Rome, Italy.
Dr. Marta Baird of Pleasanton, California, stated, “Smile Video has proven to be an exceptionally powerful tool, building emotional connections with patients and driving higher treatment acceptance.”
“The Invisalign Outcome Simulator Pro with Smile Video transforms patient reactions — seeing their new smile in motion is truly powerful. Invisalign conversions are up, and we’re excited to share it across practices,” said Dr. Sandeep Kumar of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Dr. Pablo Ramirez of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, said, “By providing a physical mock-up, we enable patients to see and feel a real-world preview of the future smile, treatment outcomes and potential restorative designs. Creating mockups with the iTero Design Suite is a great way to help patients see what's possible for them.”
The company stated that the new series of product innovations for iTero scanners is available globally, subject to regional regulatory approvals. Align is also offering education and training for dental teams to support implementation of the new tools.
